MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Officials from the Interior Ministry of Belarus and Lithuania’s Police Department are set to discuss the fight with drug trafficking and practical interaction in combating transboundary crimes, BelTA learnt from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Interior Ministry of Belarus. Taking part in the meeting will be First Deputy Interior Minister and Head of the Criminal Police of Belarus Oleg Pekarsky and Head of the Criminal Police Bureau of the Police Department under the Interior Ministry of Lithuania Algirdas Matonis. The sides are set to discuss cooperation in fighting organized crime, illegal car deals, forgery, and smuggling of tobacco goods. The meeting’s agenda will also include the cooperation in fighting drug trafficking, including the traffic of synthetic drugs from Europe to the CIS, and the smuggling of Afghan opiates and cannabis drugs to the European Union. The sides are expected to work out a plan of action to strengthen the further cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Belarus and Lithuania. БЕЛТА
